Vietnam
Active internal conflict between Vietnamese authorities and a rural Christian minority.
Ongoing internal conflict between Vietnamese authorities and the Christian Degar-Montagnards of the Central Highlands (population: 4m), amongst whom Christianity is spreading, partially as a source of distinctiveness from the dominant Vietnamese. Torture and persecution, specifically on religious grounds. Roots of the conflict lie in French colonial days, when Montagnards supported the French, and in the Vietnam War when Montagnards supported the Americans.
