HSA Wales formally constituted
On 2 September 2009, Holistic Spiritual Alliance Wales (HSA Wales) was formally constituted to represent the many different approaches to spirituality in Wales outside of the traditional religious and faith communities.
This Alliance has been developed from a successful pilot project in Swansea in 2008 supported by Interfaith Swansea. It was funded by the Faith Communities Capacity Building Fund to create a model for engaging marginalised faith and spiritual communities in Wales.
The objectives of HSA Wales are as follows:
1) To advance public knowledge and mutual understanding of the many different approaches to spirituality in Wales
2) To provide representation for unrepresented spiritualities in appropriate situations.
3) To promote good relations between persons of different spiritual and religious beliefs and to be of service to the people of Wales
Management Structure
HSA Wales is a formally constituted voluntary organisation. The current Chair is Nigel Anthony, and Rev Alan Bayes, the current Chair of the Inter-Faith Council for Wales, sits on the Management Committee representing the perspective of traditional faiths in Wales.
Representation and Citizenship
HSA Wales provides a democratic and transparent structure so that people who take a holistic approach to spirituality can achieve representation on public decision-making and consultative bodies. These public bodies include Interfaith, SACREs, school and hospital boards, and various local and national community building bodies.
